I am Elke Wierenga, an artist making soft sculptures and conceptual arts.
In my soft sculptures the 2D and 3D objects are made with different textile material. I am using craft techniques like knitting, knotting, crochet, sewing and weaving. I work from the material and use the technique to make the sculpture and technique just as important. The proces of making an object is the most important to me.
In my conceptual arts I question traditions, habits and common national ways of thinking. I like to encourage different ways of thinking in a modest way.
Regularity, technique, proces and aesthetics are characteristic of my work.
